Wildwood is a gritty, dark, thoughtful, informative, and heartbreakingly realistic story. Amy Please's ambiance draws you into the northern Wisconsin setting that has a dark, shadowed underbelly.

I really could not get enough of the past timeline through Trinity’s POV. From the very first chapter, I was completely attached to her character and found myself holding my breath through the rest of the story just hoping for the best outcome as she endured so many hardships.

Even though the story had quite a the dark topics, the underlying message of resilience, hope, and helping those in need while battling your own demons truly shines through.

This is the second book in the Northwoods series, and can easily be read as a standalone. As you know, I seem to no longer start a series in the beginning so of course I have not read the first book yet. Pease gave enough background information so that you will feel like you can be part of this world without feeling like you have missed a thing.
