I knew Return to Sender was going on my 2026 favorites list before I even finished the first chapter in the book! It is an incredibly emotional yet uplifting story that was beautifully written with so much care.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆?

Each character in this story captured my heart and drew me in more and more with their back stories. I couldn’t help but feel an emotional and personal connection as them as they began to reveal their own personal grief. Especially Violet’s character as she took on guardianship of her sister after the loss of their father. Her desperation to be a good guardian felt so raw and real.

This is so much more than just a romance story. It’s about finding connection and support in the least likely of places.

Karissa Vacker brings each character to life in such a vivid and real way. She differentiates the characters through calibrated shifts in tone and rhythm, giving each one’s ambition and insecurity a distinct presence.
