Adrift
I am a huge fan of Will Dean, so when I pick up one of his books I know am about to become immersed and left with a hangover. Therefore, it’s no surprise that I was left emotionally raw at the end of Adrift.
Adrift is a dark and heavy story that takes on isolation (living on a houseboat) and emotional abuse at the hands of a volatile father to create a tension filled story that kept me feeling a sense of dread and foreboding. I cannot tell you how many times I actually caught myself holding my breath as the father continued to exert more control. Never have I wanted karma to come after a character so much!
This is one of those dark psychological thrillers that I will never forget!
